If you have been subjected to family violence or threatened in some way, we can assist you to apply to the Magistrates’ Court for an intervention order to protect you. Also, we can help you to apply for an intervention order and represent you in court if you have received a summons.

There are two types of intervention orders:

(1) Personal Safety Intervention Order; and

(2) Family Violence Intervention Order (where the protected person or respondent are family members).

When ending a relationship via separation or divorce people can agree to a property settlement to separate their assets.

There are two options available to make that agreement binding:

(1) a binding financial agreement, which is a binding and enforceable contract between the parties and can only deal with financial or property matters but excludes children and custody matters and can be entered into at any time during a relationship such as before living together, during cohabitation, during a marriage, after separation, or after divorce; or

(2) consent orders, which need to be finalised by the Court and can deal with parenting matters also. Once the arrangement is considered and approved by the Court which granting consent orders, it becomes legally binding and enforceable under the Family Law Act.

We are able to advise on and draft the binding financial agreement or the consent orders and assist you on your wealth planning and preservation of assets in the context of marriage.

One can lose mental capacity due to various reasons. In order to ensure that your affairs are managed with minimal disruptions or delay, our experienced team is able assist you to execute a Power of Attorney. A Power of Attorney is a legal document which gives you the power to voluntarily appoint one or more person(s) to make decisions and act on your behalf should you lose mental capacity one day.
